Speed Cameras – The Saga Continues

The following unsurprising story has recently been reported in the Daily Telegraph and probably elsewhere. Please note that I am not a Telegraph reader. I saw this on the internet. I want to be absolutely clear on this. A stout fellow called Thomas Baird was sent a court summons accusing him of speeding in a 30mph zone in Staffordshire where he was nabbed by a speed camera. Honda – Department Of ‘We Want It Here’

I was reading a car review post by Denis Flierl the other day (here) on a website I contribute to and liked the style of the Honda Civic Coupe Tourer that’s on sale in the United States. I’m a fan of our Civic and of Honda cars generally. Honda is my local car manufacturer, being just along the road from me in beautiful uptown Swindon, so I take a proprietary interest in the doings. The aforementioned article caused me to wonder why we don’t appear to be getting the coupe here. I resolved to know more. Continue reading

The New Volkswagen Tiguan – Short Drive Review

I recall that it was a couple of years ago when I last drove the Volkswagen Tiguan. Obviously that was the Mk1 version, but I do remember that I was largely underwhelmed. Certainly it was well made with the usual VW attention to quality, but it didn’t excite. It was worthy and functional but lacked charisma. That has all changed now. Continue reading

What Are The First Things To Do After A Car Crash?

We all hope to avoid them but accidents, as they say, do happen. If you had a car crash, would you know what steps to take in the immediate aftermath? What about later on? We all like to think we would have the presence of mind to act, but keeping a cool head in an emergency situation is easier said than done. You might be dealing with injuries, high emotions and a scene of confusion. That is why it is a good idea to think ahead and have a plan in case the worst should happen. Continue reading

My Car Check Reveals The Riskiest Used Cars

New data released by vehicle check provider mycarcheck.com reveals that the Vauxhall Corsa SXI AC is the riskiest used car to buy in the UK. With 6.25% of all Corsa SXI AC’s checked having both a write-off and an outstanding finance warning, and 39% of all Corsa SXI AC’s having a write-off warning, used cars buyers are reminded about the dangers of not carrying out a vehicle provenance check before agreeing to buy a car. Driverless Cars – Will We Really Have A Choice?

Now see here. We don’t care for change. We’re British. Look how long it took us to get over manual gearboxes. Even a very famous journalist once grumbled about ‘stupid flappy paddles’. Real men change gears with a stick. Only thanks to unrelenting determination by car makers did we finally accept that, y’know, those DCT’s aren’t too bad. High praise indeed from the British. A Limit Not A Target: Why Motorists Will Never Agree.

If you haven’t done anything wrong then you have nothing to fear”. This statement is absolutely true. Conversely, it could be seen as the mantra of the moaning minnies for whom any minor transgression is tantamount to treason. Rules are rules but they are not necessarily good or sensible rules.
