Hybrid Ford Mustang & A New Golden Age of Automobiles

Bill Crittenden of the Crittenden Automotive Library prefers the modern approach to the Ford Mustang: Bill writes from the  USA:   Technology seems to be encroaching upon the most fun and interesting aspects of owning and driving automobiles: automatic transmissions, electric cars, self-driving cars, cars bloated by safety features and fuel economy regulations strangling design creativity. There’s a constant barrage of technological advancements vying for our attention on the dashboard that are replacing the charms of “well-weathered leather, hot metal and oil” of the cars of years gone by. Red Bull TV To Revolutionise WRC TV Coverage

Red Bull TV is set to revolutionise the coverage of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2017, with a pioneering approach that will bring fans of the high-octane sport closer to the action than ever before. For too long viewers in this country have been starved of decent coverage. This is especially good news as 2017 is going to be spectacular, with new cars and driver changes. Champion Sebastien Ogier has switched to the Ford M-Sport team, which will be a new challenge for him. Continue reading

This Year The Fun Is In Tents

William Shakespeare, quoting Richard III when the sales were on, penned ‘Now is the discount of our winter tents’, demonstrating how popular camping was even then. New McLaren Super Series At Geneva

Back in November I had the opportunity to drive the McLaren 650S in Spider form (HERE). It was, as you might expect, a superb example of automotive prowess and a great experience. Not content to rest on their supercar laurels, for McLaren Automotive a new era will begin this March with the launch of the second generation of its Super Series at the Geneva International Motor Show. Volkswagen Polo – A Match For Any Supermini

Whenever a prospective buyer considers a choice of supermini hatchbacks, the first thought is of the evergreen Fiesta and with very good reason. In fact, this segment of the car market is awash with decent small cars but, instead of the Ford, perhaps at the top of any short list should also be the Volkswagen Polo, voted the 2016 supermini of the year.. The Laughing Policeman

Long ago, in the days when men wore proper hats and opened car doors for ladies, there were amusement arcades on the end of any seaside pier. There, amongst the crane machines that robbed you blind and the handle-cranked ‘What The Butler Saw’ Mutoscope reels with Edwardian ladies disporting in their dishabille much to the secret delight of coy youths with restless genitals, there was exhibited an automaton in the form of a ruddy-faced laughing policeman. There’s one in the clip below: see how jolly he is, laughing in gratitude for the gift of a penny in the slot. (Once you get the idea stop the clip; gets a bit irritating after a while).
