Used Car Selling: The Right Image At The Right Time

A picture paints a thousand words. This is so. When I see a picture of a politician at least one thousand words come to mind; few of them good. It’s a hackneyed old cliché that has been around forever yet it remains true, especially when selling your used car. Continue reading

Traffic Fury: The Indicators

When the driving test was first introduced in 1935, drivers were required to indicate their intentions by means of hand signals (that’s the government approved official ones by the way, not the varied selection of unofficial and highly demonstrative ones). Whatever the weather the window had to be wound down so an arm could be extended and flapped about in the designated manner. The ability to correctly use these signals was a requirement of the driving test, right up to 1975, despite the much earlier introduction of the ‘The Trafficator’. Continue reading

Honda Civic Sport Plus: Now It’s Just Right

Both of the previous two incarnations of the modern era Honda Civic have been very good cars. When all about them boxy hatchbacks thrived the Swindon based company went for a stylish dart shape which proved to be very popular right down to the triangular exhaust outlets. Continue reading

Any Excuse For A Party!

I’ve noted several tweets over the last few days moaning about Bonfire Night (which is, by the way, November 5th and not two weeks either side). I have seen it compared to the scandalous behaviour of MPs, Brexit (always never-ending Brexit), religious terrorism, 412 years ago and we’re still at it and so on and so on. Just how sad and empty does life have to be to perpetually moan about this trivial stuff? Continue reading

Traffic Fury: Merge In Turn

Traffic Fury is intended as an irregular feature (that is to say it will appear often, sometimes or never again) whereby I take a single motoring complaint and have a furious moan about it whilst castigating the general driving standards of this nation’s car users. At this stage it is unlikely I will have have a feature called Traffic Joy, but we live in hope. Now read on about Merge In Turn: Continue reading

Peugeot 308 SW Has Space To Spare

Car reviews are only ever one person’s opinion. What suits one jaded journo may not suit another. By and large though the Peugeot 308 SW with its vast boot has garnered praise across the board without generating a whole lot of excitement. That’s how I think of it too. If it were food the car would be a cheese sandwich or a fruit bun; no real taste sensations yet they deliver a feeling of being satisfied. That’s the thing about the 308 Station Wagon, it delivers on comfort, economy and space and is the ideal vehicle for getting the job done without fuss. Ah, I seem to have reached a conclusion at the beginning; never mind, let’s press on with…. Continue reading
