Nissan X-Trail – A Worthy SUV Contender

Nissan X-Trail is not a silly or meaningless name for a car – unlike some I could mention. It conjures up an image of the great outdoors and of rugged exploration. The thing is, like almost every other car in these lifestyle days, or so it seems to me, the Nissan is now softer in its approach to the SUV market. Continue reading

Motoring Money: Cars That Hold Their Value

It is often said that buying a car can be one of the most expensive lifetime purchases with the obvious exception of your house. Unlike a house, cars will suffer value depreciation quickly so new or used car buyers will want to try and lay hands on a vehicle that will still be worth as much as possible when it comes time to sell it on. Introducing The New Vauxhall Crossland X Crossover

Whether or not the world needs yet another funky crossover in this ‘burgeoning sector’ is a matter of opinion. Nevertheless here is Vauxhall’s latest offering, the Crossland X. The vehicle is crisp and compact, say the company, on the outside and spacious and flexible on the inside, with unique two-tone paintwork and SUV-styling. Continue reading

Volkswagen Polo – A Match For Any Supermini

Whenever a prospective buyer considers a choice of supermini hatchbacks, the first thought is of the evergreen Fiesta and with very good reason. In fact, this segment of the car market is awash with decent small cars but, instead of the Ford, perhaps at the top of any short list should also be the Volkswagen Polo, voted the 2016 supermini of the year.. Isuzu D-Max Blade – Why, It’s Sharper Than Ever!

Pick-ups, like the Isuzu D-Max Blade, are very versatile vehicles but we must not forget that they are working trucks designed to withstand a hard life shifting stuff and generally getting bashed about. In recent times however the pick-up has begun to assume some pretensions – getting above its station, as it were. Like a scheming working-class suitor at the door of royalty, this humble truck has donned a sharp suit and is trying to attract the attention of the princess. Continue reading

Road Safety: Drive Safer For ’17

Someone, not me, once said words to the effect of, ‘It isn’t ice or fog or snow or rain that causes car accidents, it is drivers’. Very true. I’m reminded of this by the tragic multi-car pile-up on the A40 at Oxford. Generally, we will never know the actual circumstances but at least one fool was clearly driving too fast for the conditions and roped innocent people into his or her death wish. Once again road safety is a hot topic. Continue reading

Kia Sportage Wins Hearts And Minds

With a steady October 2016 for car sales in the UK, the Kia Sportage remains a strong seller for the brand. The tested model – fourth generation – has seen a continued rise in sales since going on sale in February this year with over 31,400 sold since launch and 3,471 sold in October. Kia is showing a near fourteen per cent rise on 2015 figures and with good reason. This is a very good car. Continue reading

Suzuki Jimny: Go Tell The Spartans

I love the Suzuki Jimny. It is not a car that follows fads or trends. It does its own thing in its own time. It will not be hurried but will get on with job when required. It’s motto is, ‘I am what I am and that’s all that I am’. It does not assume airs and graces. It is an honest car. It is anti-fashion. Continue reading
