Red Bull TV To Revolutionise WRC TV Coverage

Red Bull TV is set to revolutionise the coverage of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2017, with a pioneering approach that will bring fans of the high-octane sport closer to the action than ever before. For too long viewers in this country have been starved of decent coverage. This is especially good news as 2017 is going to be spectacular, with new cars and driver changes. Champion Sebastien Ogier has switched to the Ford M-Sport team, which will be a new challenge for him. Continue reading

Red Bull Rocks WRC Rally Stars

Great news rally fans! With non-stop action on snow, mud, tarmac, gravel and even sometimes the surrounding countryside, the FIA World Rally Championship radiates adrenalin. The aforementioned great news then is that next year the WRC will be seen for the first time live on Red Bull TV. Continue reading

Volkswagen World Rally Team Stop At The Top

As a Rally enthusiast I from time to time try to persuade others that there is no better branch of motor sport. Driving as it should be and far more exciting a spectacle than the tedium that is Formula One. Although there are many diehard fans (see Rally Wales) for some odd reason this sport has failed to ignite the public as it once did in the deadly days of the old Group B cars. It doesn’t help when the most successful team ups and quits without a word of warning. Continue reading

Audi RS6 Performance: What’s That…

I rarely take strong drink. This is because I obviously spend a lot of my time driving and as we know all too well these two pleasures of the flesh don’t mix. This is both a blessing and a curse to me. It is a blessing because I don’t get to consume much alcohol and it is a curse because I don’t get to consume much alcohol. Continue reading

Subaru WRX STi – Old School, Still Cool

Many will remember the halcyon days of rallying when Colin McRae monstered the World Rally Championship in the forerunner of the Scooby featured here. Then, for a while and unaccountably, the Subaru WRX STi went all hatchback-y and the purists grumbled. It was just wrong. Then it disappeared completely! Then, a couple of years or so ago, Subaru brought it back to the UK! Hurrah! Continue reading

DriveWrite Favourite – New Volvo V60 Polestar Available Soon.

Volvo have announced the launch of the quickest car it has ever made – the new 367hp Polestar V60 estate. Sprinting from to 62 mph in a scant 4.8 seconds, it is limited to a top speed of 155 mph, powered by a specially enhanced version of Volvo’s award-winning four-cylinder Drive-E powertrain. Honda Civic Type R – Men 2 Boyz

One of the things that gladdens my heart is the knowledge that car makers are still prepared to build cars like the Honda Civic Type R featured here. Cars that fly in the face of the current mood of eco-consciousness like a hot dog stand at a vegan conference. People who ask, ‘what is the point of vents and gills that don’t appear to do anything’, are, by saying that, missing the very point of them. Continue reading

Peugeot 508 RXH – It’s Good But What Is It For?

I always applaud efforts by car makers to try something that moves at least part of their range out of the ‘mainstream’ even if it doesn’t always work out. The RCZ-R from the French manufacturer is a fine little sports car for example but is, alas being, deleted from the catalogue. That’s a shame and a sign of the times. The Peugeot 508 RXH is another example; it is the company’s effort to add a premium ‘all-roader’ model to the range but sadly it doesn’t quite come off. Continue reading

Infiniti Q30 – First Drive

Let’s get one thing straight from the outset. I am not going to do any ‘To infinity and beyond!’ jokes; I only went to Reading. So it was that, bright and early with the weather staying mercifully dry, I rolled up at the Infiniti premises in the aforementioned town to trial the new Infiniti Q30 Active Compact hatchback and cast a stern, discerning eye over the showroom stock. Continue reading
