Brexit: How Do You Like Your Fudge?

The important news is that this weekend it’s the Le Mans 24 hour race. Enjoy. In other news, this coming Monday (Probably. Or not. What could possibly go wrong?) will see the start of the Brexit negotiations with those obstinate continental fellows. Continue reading

Peugeot 3008: Car Of The Year?

A while back I complained that many new crossovers and SUV’s all had the same look as if there was a template being passed from manufacturer to manufacturer. Whilst I hold to that to a certain extent I have to admit to being guilty of the sin of over-generalisation because some of the new crop of such cars are uniquely styled: The new Peugeot 3008 featured here is a case in point. Automotive Industry Digital Marketing Review

A White Paper has been prepared by Mediaworks to analyse the current digital landscape in the automotive sector. In it, they examine key digital metrics and have established the automotive brands with the strongest digital profiles. From virtual showrooms to a new breed of well informed customers, digital has already altered the automotive sector — and the industry’s dependence is expected to grow in the coming years.

In 2016, the number of new cars sold in the UK reached an all-time high. According to figures from The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), 2.69 million cars were registered — up 2% on 2015’s performance. Although largely attributed to fleets, private car sales still remain historically high at 1.2 million.

The White Paper offers actionable advice and invaluable industry insights making it essential reading for digital marketing managers and personnel and, indeed, anyone who works in the automotive sector. The Paper can be downloaded free of charge HERE.

The Technology Machine Stops. Again.

Call me paranoid but the one thing that worries me about technology is people. Let me explain: A couple of weeks back the NHS and a lot else crashed because some pointless, swivel-eyed cretin though it would be funny to disrupt the world. In the UK the sick, halt and lame had their appointments delayed and there was much pandemonium and it was all down to cheapskate thinking and the retention of outdated technology. Continue reading

What Happens When You Don’t Change Your Car’s Engine Oil

The most important thing to remember about car engines is they need lubrication! Here’s why you should regularly check, top-up and change your oil: If you were hungry, you wouldn’t neglect your belly. Neither should you ignore the dipstick when it tells you that your car’s engine oil is dangerously low. Read on to find out why your oil is so important and how to check the levels in your car. Why It’s Never Been A Better Time To Be A Car Lover!

For some people, a car is little more than a method of getting from one place to another. They treat it as little more than a tool of convenience to help them deal with the day-to-day logistics of going to work, seeing friends, and picking their kids up from school every day. And there’s nothing wrong with that. However, for many other people, cars are so much more than that. Continue reading

Peugeot 2008 Update: The PureTech GT-Line

I reviewed the latest Peugeot 2008 last year, HERE. Then, it was a diesel-engine version in Allure trim. It was a fine modestly-sized SUV which I described as being an ideal small, economical family car. The 2008 is based on the 208 supermini but, although heavier, offers more versatility and space. This time I wanted to try the three-cylinder 1.2 PureTech petrol engine with a lively 130bhp and 230Nm of torque. Continue reading

The Way Car Journalists Were

Why writers & journalists have it easy today… In general, car manufacturers are very generous to motoring journalists and it is appreciated. Scribes and snappers are invited to events and launches, all, or at least most, expenses paid. Recently, I was asked to attend, with VIP status, a prestigious motor racing event, for example. Very nice. Certainly the work can be demanding at times but you can’t fault the arrangements. Continue reading
