The Treasure Hunter’s Guide To Rare Motors

Amongst car lovers, owning something rare will always bring a sense of envy in your peers. It will make you feel as though you’re driving in a true piece of treasure. And, depending on the car; you could even be driving a piece of history. For example, the Aston Martin Bulldog is an incredibly rare car. Only twenty-five of the cars were made; and, even less are around to today. Continue reading

Britain On Top Of The WRC Rallying World

Britain is firmly back at the top of the World Rally Championship (WRC) tree – of that there can be no argument. And Britain has arrived there just in time for one of the most exciting, entertaining and open seasons in the series’ 43-year history; again, an indubitable fact. Continue reading

New McLaren Super Series At Geneva

Back in November I had the opportunity to drive the McLaren 650S in Spider form (HERE). It was, as you might expect, a superb example of automotive prowess and a great experience. Not content to rest on their supercar laurels, for McLaren Automotive a new era will begin this March with the launch of the second generation of its Super Series at the Geneva International Motor Show. Audi RS6 Performance: What’s That…

I rarely take strong drink. This is because I obviously spend a lot of my time driving and as we know all too well these two pleasures of the flesh don’t mix. This is both a blessing and a curse to me. It is a blessing because I don’t get to consume much alcohol and it is a curse because I don’t get to consume much alcohol. Continue reading

The Gazelle And The Bull

Why it’s nearly the end of the road for real performance cars in the UK:

Backstory

I recently spent the day enjoying not one but two astounding and brilliantly engineered cars. Last week was lived in the company of the Audi RS6 Performance (597bhp) with the added pleasure of an extended drive in the McLaren 650S Spider (641bhp). So, you might reasonably ask, why, you ungrateful git, are you grumbling about it? Continue reading

Get Your Audi R8 Spyder Now

The German brand unveiled the new Audi R8 Spyder V10 at the 2016 New York International Auto Show in March. Pre-sales are now starting across Europe. The base price in Germany is €179,000 (£150k). I have driven the Spyder version of the previous model and experienced the full wind-in-you-hair effect. More recently I drove the latest coupé version (here) and found that it was good. Very, very good. Continue reading

Beaulieu – Another Grand Day Out

Last week I was saying goodbye to the outgoing Land Rover Discovery before it is replaced. I wanted to complete a good, long round trip as a form of valediction for a venerable car that is, even now, still one of the best all-rounders out there. As this model departs into history it seemed appropriate to visit Beaulieu National Motor Museum in Hampshire. Continue reading

The New Nissan GT-R for 2017

The Nissan GT-R is one of my favourite cars so I offer no apology for extolling the virtues of the new model at length here. Since its launch in 2007, the Nissan GT-R has been at the cutting edge of the premium sports car sector. It’s an uncompromising performance four-seater (sort of) for enthusiastic drivers, a car which completely embodies Nissan’s ‘Innovation that Excites’ motto. I drove the current model a while back and you can see that HERE. Continue reading
