3 of the Biggest Misconceptions Surrounding Car Insurance in the UK

While automotive insurance may be one of the UK’s most in-demand industries, there is no doubt that it is poised for a major evolution over the course of the next decade and beyond. After all, the emergence of automated cars is inevitable, while the fact that an estimated 90% of all auto mobile accidents are caused by human error means that technological advancement will change the service that insurers deliver for car insurance beyond all recognition in the future. Talking Horse Sense On The Roads

First man walked everywhere. Then someone spotted a horse and had an idea about transport but couldn’t catch the bloody thing. Then someone decided to ‘corral’ a bunch of horses up a ‘blind canyon’ or whatever horse people do, train and domesticate it and use it for transport. This made a lot of sense. Horses can carry, work and pull and little ponies delight children. They were the original horsepower and you can put their emissions on your roses. Then someone invented the motor car. Road Safety & The Police

Road safety matters which is why I’m on this one again. Here, in the mighty metropolis where I reside, there is a partial ring road around the huge housing estates and general suburbia. It is festooned with traffic lights and roundabouts and has a forty mile per hour speed limit. I hate it. Continue reading

The Curse Of Brexit And The British Holiday

Brexit, which is not a proper word, has taken on a life of its own, like Godzilla or the fashion for stocky middle-aged men to wear three-quarter length shorts and thinking it looks appealing. If the EU does at some point begin to fracture – the Poles are being a bit off-message just now – we will likely see variations on this non-word but for now, it is we, the awkward Brits, who are the pariahs of Europe. The APPCG & The One-Sided Argument

It was reported the other day (here) that some MPs are calling for cyclists to be given priority over other road-users in an updated version of the Highway Code to give them more protection from evil motorists. It goes without saying that the MPs in question form the all-party parliamentary cycling group (APPCG) so they would say that, wouldn’t they? Continue reading

Ford Mustang V8 GT: Past Master.

It is dusk. The dark descends as, out of the gloom, emerges a slender figure. “That’s enormous”, said my wife, “also a bit flash”. Naturally, I expected this reaction and was ready for it. I started the car and the Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 grumbled into life; I switched on the lights and, jumping out, went around to the passenger side and opened the door to reveal – a puddle light shining a bright, white Mustang onto the road like a personal bat-signal. Job done. Sold to the lady! Continue reading
