We’re Pumped For The New BMW GT, You Should Be Too!

Last month, BMW unveiled the new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo and wow, is it impressive. It’s the next in line after the 5 Series GT, and this one has five doors with liftback. We have to admit, this latest model has us excited for a wide range of reasons, and it is worth examining everything we know so far about this beautiful new car. Continue reading

Audi SQ5 – The Perfect Family And Driver Compromise

With so many Audi variants you could picture herds of them sweeping majestically across the plain. Yet they are all different. Just like the part-performance car, part-family-ready SUV that is the Audi SQ5. It’s already a firm UK favourite on the strength of its impressively well-rounded appeal. From this week though, its all-new successor retakes its rightful place at the head of the Q5 range offering an even more concentrated dose of that successful formula. Continue reading

Audi RSQ3 – Pocket-Sized Performance

If Audi see the tiniest gap in the car market they clearly feel compelled to fill it. Buyers of the more enthusiastic style of small hatch are already catered for by the German brand’s brilliant hot pocket rocket, the RS3. Thus it seems to me that to make, effectively, a taller version of the same thing seems wilfully pointless. So why do I love the Audi RSQ3 Performance so? Continue reading

Audi: The Successful 18-Year Tenure In The WEC

The shock waves are still being felt in the motorsport world following Audi’s decision to end their campaign in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at the end of the 2016 season. At the time of the sensational announcement, Audi’s motorsport boss Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich stated: “After 18 years in prototype racing that were exceptionally successful for Audi, it’s obviously extremely hard to leave. Audi Sport Team Joest shaped the WEC during this period like no other team.” Continue reading

Audi RS6 Performance: What’s That…

I rarely take strong drink. This is because I obviously spend a lot of my time driving and as we know all too well these two pleasures of the flesh don’t mix. This is both a blessing and a curse to me. It is a blessing because I don’t get to consume much alcohol and it is a curse because I don’t get to consume much alcohol. Continue reading

The Gazelle And The Bull

Why it’s nearly the end of the road for real performance cars in the UK:

Backstory

I recently spent the day enjoying not one but two astounding and brilliantly engineered cars. Last week was lived in the company of the Audi RS6 Performance (597bhp) with the added pleasure of an extended drive in the McLaren 650S Spider (641bhp). So, you might reasonably ask, why, you ungrateful git, are you grumbling about it? Continue reading

I Want My Old Car Back!

There is a wearying inevitability about new mainstream car launches these days. The latest technology that can do this and that when underneath they are all pretty much the same. Automotive things ain’t what they used to be. On the other hand, our personal history of cars past could just be recollections that are half-created, half-perceived, perhaps, but none the less real for that. In short, were the cars of yesteryear much more interesting? Continue reading

Get Your Audi R8 Spyder Now

The German brand unveiled the new Audi R8 Spyder V10 at the 2016 New York International Auto Show in March. Pre-sales are now starting across Europe. The base price in Germany is €179,000 (£150k). I have driven the Spyder version of the previous model and experienced the full wind-in-you-hair effect. More recently I drove the latest coupé version (here) and found that it was good. Very, very good. Continue reading

Audi & The Breath Of Fresh Air

And it came to pass that we entered the grass pollen season even as tree pollen is still doing its nasal thing. The good news is, from next month, compact Audi models will bring a breath of fresher air to their occupants thanks to a new air conditioning filter that not only removes fine particulates and harmful gases from the air, but also neutralises virtually all allergens. This will come as a blessing to those poor souls who suffer from the effects of tree pollen, grass pollen and nature’s sundry pollutants. Continue reading
