Then, with a fanfare, the electric internet arrived. The ultimate computer tool; facts at our fingertips. The world will be a better place. Continue reading

Should Older Car Journalists Be Humanely Put Down?

Life moves on. Time and tide wait for no man. Konnichiwa Kiddies!

It probably hasn’t escaped your notice that the human race is daily becoming more and more childlike. Volvo XC70, DriveWrite AutomotiveToday’s car, as the title suggests, is the Volvo XC70 which is basically a jacked-up V70 Estate with skid-plates, some body cladding and all-wheel drive. Before it arrived I was looking forward to the car but as the week went by I became less enamoured. This model has been around variously for a few years now and, although one shouldn’t fix what’s not broken, it is starting to look its age. Continue reading

Blue & White Tractor Man

Stan Potter continues his classic Ferguson tractor odyssey and once again demonstrates his considerable automotive skills: I am now the proud owner of a 1952 Ferguson TED20 tractor. Generically these were known as “The little Grey Fergie” but this one, as it was sold in France, was painted (at the factory) grey and red. It is known in the French farming community as Le Ferguson Gris. Continue reading
