Back Seat Drivers & Other Road Menaces

Okay: You’re driving along a pleasing road in lovely weather with two or maybe three passengers on board and you feel that, in general, life is good. Everything is hunky-dory; until that is one person offers some advice and all of a sudden the sound that you hear is your own teeth grinding against each other. Continue reading

The Standard Of Driving Standards

More than eight out of every ten British motorists are unaware of new speeding fines, which could see someone earning £50,000 pay a fine of £1000 for travelling 41mph in a 20mph limit. This is according to research carried out for a survey by a leading consumer motoring website (acknowledged) and it is relevant to driving standards. Continue reading

Road Safety: Drive Safer For ’17

Someone, not me, once said words to the effect of, ‘It isn’t ice or fog or snow or rain that causes car accidents, it is drivers’. Very true. It seems unbelievable that people still drink and drive and/or use phones (my personal pet hate) and technology whilst on the move. Further, I am witnessing – and I am sure you are too if you care at all about road safety – a fair number of incidences of driving that can only be described as sloppy or careless at best. Continue reading

Documenting Road Safety

I rarely watch ‘reality’ TV. To me these programmes are usually just mindless schedule stuffing content, like so much bread in a cheap sausage. That said, I have watched a few of the eye-opening police road safety documentaries about the tribulations of our very thin blue line of traffic cops and the knuckle-dragging Neanderthals they have to contend with. Common Mistakes Motorists Make And How To Fix Them

Roadshamer.com, TurnEightJess Shanahan writes: We are all human and we’re bound to make mistakes when driving but the least we can do is try to minimise those mistakes to keep the roads safe. Of course, there are always going to be people out there who do drive dangerously but let’s not add to that by making silly mistakes that only infuriate other drivers. Continue reading
