Still Not Electrified By Electric Cars?

As time progresses, electric cars are going to become more and more ubiquitous on our roads. They present a much more environmentally friendly way to travel. And, once you have one, they’re usually cheaper to run. Not a lot of people are convinced by electric cars, though. From low temperatures hurting battery life to full-on explosions; there seem to be loads to be worried about. Continue reading

Everyday Family Hatchbacks Vs 100% Electric Nissan LEAF

There are a number of articles out there about the Nissan LEAF which focus on showing you how it is the best in its class. But, as an everyday combustion engine driver you don’t want to know if Nissan have produced the best electric car in the EV class but rather how the LEAF stacks up against the class equivalent of petrol and diesel cars. Elon Musk: Saint Or Sinner?

Growing up from childhood with a name like Elon Musk must imbue the name-holder with a certain degree of self-confidence in the sense that the global schoolboy is not going to let that one go without a crack at a spoonerism or anagram. In the case of today’s Elon Musk, that is certainly the case. Continue reading

Ranking The Range Of Electric Vans

The use of electric vans is growing. Kinder to the environment, it also makes good business sense. Nextgreencar.com recently gathered some statistics on the number of electric vehicles that are on our UK roads today – and it appears the market is growing. According to their data, the number of electric vehicles on our roads has grown considerably over the past few years.

Milton Keynes Goes Ultra Low

Don’t you just hate the expression, ‘sustainable mobility solutions’? To me it sums up what’s wrong with our anodyne, politically correct, culturally sensitive, perpetually offended world. We know what ‘sustainable mobility solutions’ are but why can’t we say it in plain English? There’s a lot of this pretentious newspeak about. Continue reading

No Charge For An EV Charger

Electric vehicle owners are starting to have free smart chargers installed as a result of their participation in the Electric Nation project. The latest smart chargers will future-proof their electric vehicle (EV) home charging, and they will play an important role in a research project to ensure that the UK’s local electricity networks can cope with the ever-growing numbers of electric cars. The EV Revolution Is On Its Way

About Electric Vehicle Progress in America. Jerry Mooney writes: When it comes to electric vehicles (EVs), Tesla often gets the headlines, but there is an increasing fleet of electric cars that are pushing the envelope on price, range and quality. Don’t get me wrong, I spend most of my automotive fantasies focused on a Tesla Model X, but even though the EV revolution is just beginning, there is an increasing variety of available and soon to be available electric cars with a similar variety of specs, costs and features. Hybrid Ford Mustang & A New Golden Age of Automobiles

Bill Crittenden of the Crittenden Automotive Library prefers the modern approach to the Ford Mustang: Bill writes from the  USA:   Technology seems to be encroaching upon the most fun and interesting aspects of owning and driving automobiles: automatic transmissions, electric cars, self-driving cars, cars bloated by safety features and fuel economy regulations strangling design creativity. There’s a constant barrage of technological advancements vying for our attention on the dashboard that are replacing the charms of “well-weathered leather, hot metal and oil” of the cars of years gone by. The Greening Of Britain

Apparently, at the C40 Conference of Mayors climate change knees-up held in Mexico City (And did you even know that there was a ‘conference of mayors’?), four of the world’s greatest cities – Paris, Madrid, Athens and Mexico City itself – have decided to ban diesel powered cars within the next decade. Expect this attitude to diesel to spread rapidly. No doubt Sadiq Khan will lay plans for London just as soon as he gets back from ‘fact-finding’ in sun-kissed Central America. Continue reading

Honda, Hydrogen & The Call For Clarity

The first examples of Clarity Fuel Cell, Honda’s most advanced zero emissions vehicle, have arrived in Europe this week. The first six vehicles will be based with customers in London and Copenhagen as part of the Hydrogen for Innovative Vehicles (HyFIVE) demonstration project, partly funded by the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCHJU).
