Range Rover Evoque – Combining Style & Substance

The latest, recently refreshed Range Rover Evoque – seen here in HSE Dynamic Lux trim – is now equipped with the brand’s four-cylinder ‘Ingenium’ engine and is all the better for it. Sexily styled in Firenze Red paint and black 20” alloys the Evoque shows once again that there is substance behind the style. Mrs DriveWrite bonded with it very quickly and required and charged me to, basically, nick it. As you can imagine I was shocked and swiftly counselled against such an action but she is not wrong. It really is a very good car. Continue reading

Land Rover Discovery – A Fond Farewell To A Legend

Or should that be au revoir? The Land Rover Discovery as we know, love and applaud it, is on the way to the home for old SUVs to be replaced by – a Land Rover Discovery. The outgoing version has all the renowned aerodynamics of a brick-and-a-half whereas the new model is sleek and modern and right on trend. Regardless, it somehow seems a shame to change it. Range Rover Sport: Out And About

I usually hate snow. As lovely and white and virginal as it might appear on the surface, it has an underlying dark side which makes driving unpleasant and arduous. I don’t want it on my patch, it’s as simple as that; except of course when my ride is the magnificent Range Rover Sport you see in the images. The country cousin beloved of retired folk in their rural idyll has been replaced by an altogether different prospect that’s like replacing an ageing Spartacus with his smarter younger brother. The Freelander in second hand guise (or even the last of the new ones out there) remains a great used car buy as it can still give the trendy SUV usurpers a run for their money. Continue reading

Motoring: While I’ve Been Away…

Discovery Sport…things have happened and, as ever, blame can be laid squarely at the door of our political masters both local and national. For example; I went to Dorchester. This once historic town with its many fine old buildings is, like so many other towns, not looking its best these days with empty shops and unsympathetic development. Continue reading

Range Rover Hybrid – As British As Fish & Chips

The sky was Alice Blue and the breeze was cold but the weak, wintry sun heralded a hint of warmer days to come. Thus the decision was made to drive to Weston-super-Mare for a stroll along the prom and to enjoy one of the finer things in life – fish and chips at Winston’s Fish Bar. As luck would have it we were able to make the journey inside our featured car, the Range Rover Hybrid pictured below, which, coincidentally, is also one of the finer things in life. Continue reading
