Hot Hatch Love Lost?

At the time of writing this I am driving a DS3 Performance. That’s it above. With its Parisian boulevardier looks and feisty engine it is the very epitome of a hot hatch. There’s much I like and some things I like not. I’ll write a pretty positive review soon; but there’s a problem. Continue reading

I Have No Plans To Buy Another Car

As a motoring writer I am privileged to have regular access to many cars from many manufacturers. Almost every week that passes will find me in a different motor with a few other one day drives thrown into the equation. I can see that it is in some ways an enviable position to be in and for that I am grateful; but this good fortune is not the reason why I have no plans to buy another car. Continue reading

Audi SQ5 – The Perfect Family And Driver Compromise

With so many Audi variants you could picture herds of them sweeping majestically across the plain. Yet they are all different. Just like the part-performance car, part-family-ready SUV that is the Audi SQ5. It’s already a firm UK favourite on the strength of its impressively well-rounded appeal. The vehicle is crisp and compact, say the company, on the outside and spacious and flexible on the inside, with unique two-tone paintwork and SUV-styling. Continue reading

Audi R8 – Is It Really An Everyday Supercar?

In a brief and all too infrequent episode of extreme good fortune, Audi recently not only gave me the opportunity to drive the latest Audi R8 V10 Plus, they also allowed me to keep it for a week. The R8 is an automotive symphony of noise, raw power and surprising comfort. As you might expect, I had a wonderful time soured only by the knowledge that I would soon have to give it back. Black Friday Blues

Where America leads so Britain follows, they say. Last Friday proved that this maxim is true. A survey by the Atlanta-based car sales organisation AutoTrader.com in the USA says that Black Friday (or Day Of The Shopping Zombies as it is otherwise known here) typically kicks off the post-Thanksgiving year-end deal season for American car buyers. Thanksgiving is not a holiday in the UK but that doesn’t really seem to matter to the baying hordes. Continue reading
